Just for Fun, 2013 Blog Stats

January 8, 2014 By Vidya 8 Comments

As most of you know I have a thing for numbers (my day time job is that of a financial analyst) so when the 2013 year end WordPress report came along it was fun to see how the blog fared last year. Thought you might get a kick out of it too.

At the end of 2013,

Just for Fun, 2013 Blog Stats

490 posts in the 520 weekdays in the last 2 years. i.e, I missed only 30 weekdays, which most likely were holidays or vacation days. Truly stuck to the 5 posts a week schedule but you already knew that!

What is alarming is the number below all that, the spam comments. 45,680 spam in 2 years = 93 spam comments for each post! Feel a blogger’s pain? Thank you Askimet for stopping them from surfacing on the blog!

An interesting way to look at the 2013 #s;

What bothers me though is the list of my most popular posts below.

Just for Fun, 2013 Blog Stats

See all the most viewed posts were written in 2012? How come none of the 2013 posts made the cut? Or does blog traffic follow a 1 year lag pattern?

Another interesting fact, the location of my readers.

Just for Fun, 2013 Blog Stats

Wow 187 countries! That was indeed a surprise. A big hug and thank you to each and every one of you!

Wasn’t that fun? What do you think of the numbers? Nothing eye opening but definitely interesting. Hope to see you back tomorrow when we’ll resume our regular projects posts.

Oh wow, how did you get this report? I have been seeing this around and they say WP sends them automatically but I didn’t. Could be just for .orgs? Not that, I’m going to post it because man my stats suck!
Congrats! 2013 was a great year for you!

      Jhanis,

not sure about the .org sites but it is definitely there for the .com’s. Around the year end time they sent out an email with the link. You can also access it from the JetPack Site Stats tab. On top of the bar chart you’ll see a small note that says, “Check out the fireworks you created on your 2013 Annual Report.” Click the link. From there you can even access reports for all the years you have had Jetpack. If not there is always Google Analytics.

Yay, will look for that! No Google analytics for wp.com sites 🙁

Ok, wait. I think I’m confused. I mean the report is there for self hosted WordPress sites. Always get confused between .org and .com.

Seriously Vidya, how in the world are you able to post EVERY DAY? I mean, I COULD post every day, but I wouldn’t have anything valuable to say every day of the week (well, not that a reader would want to read. HA!). Any tips you can send my way would be great! 🙂

Thank you Serena. Had to put some thought into answering the question. I had never thought of it that way, always had something to write about. I don’t really post about personal stuff on the blog unless and until it has to do with my DIY/ decorating side. And that happens only once in a while. Hopefully the readers are liking what I churn out everyday. At least that is what they said on the survey. I try to have at least one actual project post up once a week (always doesn’t work out that way but I feel I owe at least that to my readers). Organizing posts into series’ has also helped me out a lot. For eg. I usually start off the month with a fav Craigslist picks post, the next week I’ll have a Same Look 4 Less series, followed by a Reader’s showcase, and Flower Power posts the following weeks. Fridays are usually dedicated to window shopping, decorating trends, or inspiring spaces posts. There is also a Pinspiration or Tips & Tricks series tucked into the mix. Come spring, I’ll also have posts on gardening or something I do in my yard. I think this sorta allotment makes it easier on the reader in terms of knowing what to expect and hopefully keep it from getting uninteresting.
      Hope that helps.

Love this outdoor space with a beautiful red and blue outdoor decor with a flamingo pillow, metal tray side table, and loads of green plants

Finally the long overdue post, our new screened in porch reveal. This space has undoubtedly become our favorite room in the house now. To tell you the truth, I was against the idea of ripping apart our good size deck and replacing it with a screened in porch but B insisted that this was the…
