Philadelphia Home Show

January 24, 2014 By Vidya 12 Comments

There is a saying in my mother tongue which literally translates to “Like a cockroach that boarded a ship”. You see, when a roach claims that it was aboard a ship and it has traveled to different ports, won’t you take its words with a grain of salt? Well, that pretty much sums up my trip to the Philadelphia Home Show last weekend! I was at the show to attend a meet and greet event at the Crafty Camper. Denise, who is the brains behind the Crafty Camper is a very talent interior designer who blogs at The Painted Home.

We stayed with friends in NJ and drove down to Philly for the event. By the time we parked and found our way to the venue amidst blistering cold and the hustle and bustle of Philly China Town the event had started. I headed straight to the Crafty Camper while B browsed through the show. The stalls were wrapping up for the day when the meet and greet event ended. So I did not get a chance to see the “Show” per se and have to a take B’s word for how good it was. His verdict; “I had a great time, there was a lot of interesting stuff to see, didn’t have any problem whiling away 2 hrs!” That statement coming from someone who would have preferred to spend his time watching Football game reruns on TV instead is something!

The best part about the show other than making new bloggy friends; I won this 4Pc Lithium Ion Combo kit swag from Ryobi! Here is the pic that Kelly from Eclectically Vintage, who was also one of the organizers for the event, tweeted.

And guess who announced the winner? Ahmed Hassan from DIY’s Yard Crashers! That’s him with Denise and Kelly picking out the winner.

And with all of us bloggers!

Two new friends I made at the show, Nikki from Nikki In Stitches and Linda from Frog Prince Cake & Cookie Design. Did you know Nikki was the runner up on TLC’s Craft Wars? Talk about celebrity run ins! 🙂

Oops didn’t mean for this post to be this long! Was planning on showing you some decorating inspiration I found at the various interior designer stalls at the event. Maybe that will have to wait for next week. Leaving you with a shot of the swag table.

Ain’t that music book page wreath beautiful? Have you had any DIY/Craft/Home Decor celebrity encounters?

Love this outdoor space with a beautiful red and blue outdoor decor with a flamingo pillow, metal tray side table, and loads of green plants

Finally the long overdue post, our new screened in porch reveal. This space has undoubtedly become our favorite room in the house now. To tell you the truth, I was against the idea of ripping apart our good size deck and replacing it with a screened in porch but B insisted that this was the…
