Inspiring Spaces – Kitchen Storage Ideas

November 9, 2012 By Vidya 2 Comments

The last post on gorgeous kitchens got me thinking and this new series is the result! So from now on  gear up for posts on Long Distance Decor or Window Shopping or Inspiring Spaces on Fridays. 🙂 To start of the series why don’t we stick around the kitchen and see what we can find?

In my current home I have a good size  (no complaints, it is as big as our tiny master bathroom in our old town home) walk-in pantry but if I didn’t have one then this is what I would have liked. All that storage with access from both sides would make your life so much easier! All pics courtesy Houzz.

The next one is something I would love to have in my current kitchen. Wide horizontal drawers that pull out. I also like their height here, how easily accessible they are. For people like me  who are on the shorter side (almost 5 ft3″) these are a blessing. Now, I have to jump on the counter top and stand on tiptoes to check what’s hiding all the way back on the tall shelves!

Here is a clever idea that I would have tried asked the builder to add had I known about this earlier.

We have the pullout trash cans, one for regular and the other for recycle but the trash bag storage alongside is genius! Especially for people like B who ‘forget’ to walk up to the pantry to get new bags after he empties out the cans. 😉

This is the first time I’m seeing this idea. Isn’t it neat? I keep my big spoons under the sink as I like to keep my counters clutter free. This lets you store your spoons, ladles, whisks etc neatly and out of plain sight.

I’ve seen a  lot of corner cabinet storage ideas and most of them involve a lazy susan shelf. But this pull out drawer takes the cake!

I so want to DIY the next one! Another thing that I don’t like to see on the counter the dish washing sponge! I know you can’t use this to store a wet sponge but a dried one (when you have guests etc). In the US, the horizontal drawer under the sink is a fake piece of wood. I’m thinking this is not that difficult to do. What do you say? Doable?

Which of these do you want in your home? Do you have a clever storage idea in your home that you would like to share?

I too have a hubby who, when he remembers to take out the trash, NEVER puts a fresh bag in it’s place. I now keep a stash of fresh ones in the bottom of the can under the “active” one. Once the full bag is removed, the fresh ones are right there just waiting to go. Even if he doesn’t put it in place, at least I don’t have to run to the pantry with a dripping wahtever in my hands looking for a fresh bag.

LOL! That is funny! I’m sure mine won’t even notice there are extra bags under the ‘active’ one. He would just throw the the whole thing in the trash! 🙂

Love this outdoor space with a beautiful red and blue outdoor decor with a flamingo pillow, metal tray side table, and loads of green plants

Finally the long overdue post, our new screened in porch reveal. This space has undoubtedly become our favorite room in the house now. To tell you the truth, I was against the idea of ripping apart our good size deck and replacing it with a screened in porch but B insisted that this was the…
