Bulb Lasagna or Layering Flower Bulbs

Bulb Lasagna or Layering Flower Bulbs

Hola!!! Happy New Year! I know it has been awfully quiet for a few months here. I guess the best explanation would be that life happened. A lot of things going on in both my work and family lives, ending in an exciting new job this new year. It also means that I’m not doing many projects around the house, so not much to share in terms of projects. Actually I still owe you posts for the projects that we did in the summer, like the DIY outdoor curtain rods for our screened in porch, porch railing planters etc.

Anyhoo you know what my latest obsession is? My garden. Yes, it has been an obsession or rather an addiction consuming so much of my time planning for the next growing season and just about devising ways on how to add more plants to my collection. Binge watching British gardening shows on Netflix, Amazon, and Youtube does this to you. 🙂 So you can for sure expect a lot of gardening posts this year. Starting off the list is a simple youtube tutorial on how to layer bulbs. Another name for this type of planting is the Flower Bulb Lasagna method.

This is usually done in Fall but being the procrastinator that I’m when it comes to things like these I never bought bulbs for planting in pots. I happened to be at our local Walmart a couple of weeks ago and saw these Spring blooming bulbs on clearance for $0.50 for a bag of 6 and grabbed them without a plan. I had initially planned on forcing them indoors but then split the stash up for layering and indoor forcing.

I know many of you might be wondering why the Youtube video and not a detailed blog post with pics? The videos are part of my new year resolution to step out of my comfort zone of being behind the camera. Being an introvert I hate when the spotlight is on me. The video log is a conscious effort to be in front of the camera. So please be patient with me as I and my new videographer (my monkey #2) learn the ropes of vlogging and get comfortable with it.

Without much ado here’s how you make a layered bulb planter or flower bulb lasagna!

Love this outdoor space with a beautiful red and blue outdoor decor with a flamingo pillow, metal tray side table, and loads of green plants

Finally the long overdue post, our new screened in porch reveal. This space has undoubtedly become our favorite room in the house now. To tell you the truth, I was against the idea of ripping apart our good size deck and replacing it with a screened in porch but B insisted that this was the…
