Not too much, I am not making the kind of progress that I would love to have. Mainly because I don’t get the time to paint outside of class. Plus I missed a week of class as I was not feeling well. This is where we stopped my ‘woman reading‘ last time.

Stage 1 (in progress)
I decided that I wanted to move away from the impressionist style (no smooth lines, only brush strokes) to a much smoother face. I did not see myself painting with just brush strokes. So we tried to smoothen the face and enhance the features.

Stage 2 (in progress)
What did this do to the painting? The woman in her late teens turned to a woman in her thirties (or late twenties, you guys tell me)! What a difference a change of style makes! Still need to work on the right hand and the neck area. And maybe the lips? I think they are a bit too pouty.
Remember the landscape from last week? We had used purple to start the painting as I had squeezed out a lot of purple paint for my ‘woman reading’. My art instructor, Judith, assured me that I could change it to any color that I wanted later.

Stage 1 (in progress)
Trusting Judith, I decided to go with a red and burnt orange color scheme and this is where we are now. The idea was to create a whimsical painting where trees turn into clouds as they mature! How cool would that be?

Stage 2 (in progress)
I am loving the deep red trees but the grass not so much. Still need to work on a lot of things here, the rest of the bushes, the sky, the clouds, the grass etc. And I thought, this was going to be a simple painting!
